Hever Castle, situated near Edenbridge in Kent, is a breathtakingly beautiful wedding venue featuring stunning buildings, beautiful gardens and a 38-acre lake. Built in the 13th century, it originally consisted of a gatehouse and walled bailey, but was converted to a manor whilst it was the family seat of the Boleyns. The castle passed through various hands and, alas, fell into disrepair but was acquired by the American millionaire, William Waldorf Astor, in 1903. He set about extensive rennovation and constructed the Tudor-style Astor Wing behind the castle. The Italian Gardens are particularly impressive, with their Pompeiian wall and classical statuary, with the highlight being the
loggia, with its Trevi-inspired fountain, overlooking the lake.
Weddings can take place in several location within the castle and grounds. The Astor Wing, which has recently been refurbished and features 21 bedrooms and a bridal suite, is available all year round and during winter weddings can take place in the Castle's Inner Hall. During the summer ceremonies can also be conducted
al fresco in the
loggia with the Palladian-style Guthrie Pavilion available for the reception. Marquees can be erected for larger weddings
